Two months ago, guest curator Amy Goldschlager presented us with an evening of writers from the innovative publishing platform, Serial Box. Well, good cereals often have great prizes in their box that you only discover after you’ve consumed a lot of it. Guest curator Paul Witcover (another emeritus of the series) is teaming up with Racheline Maltese, both contributors to Serial Box’s Tremontaine (created by Ellen Kushner), to inaugurate our Summer Series.

Paul Witcover is the author of five novels, including most recently The Watchman of Eternity. He has been a contributing writer on all three seasons of the serial novel Tremontaine at serialbox.com. He has been a finalist for the Nebula, World Fantasy, Shirley Jackson, and Locus awards, and his first novel, Waking Beauty, was shortlisted for the Tiptree Award.

Racheline Maltese can fly a plane, sail a boat, and ride a horse, but has no idea how to drive a car. With Erin McRae she writes romances about fame, public life, and other forms of witchcraft. Their most recent novel, A Queen from the North, is a contemporary royal romance about magic and marriage in a not-so-united kingdom where the Wars of the Roses have never ended. Racheline is also a writer and producer on Serial Box Publishing’s Tremontaine.

The NYRSF Readings Series provides performances from some of the best writers in science fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, etc. The series usually takes place the first Tuesday of every month, but maintains flexibility in time and space, so be sure to stay in touch through the mailing list, the Web, and Facebook.
